Act The Maggot is thrilled to announce a new departure in our creative writing department. We are offering a brand new six-week course in Screenwriting at the end of April. This course is designed for the film and TV buffs among you. It is specifically aimed at those of you who have never tried it before. Here’s a thing. Imagine how alarming it might be if you did the maths on how many hours you actually spend watching feature films, short films, sketch comedy and episodes of TV shows per week. Content is everywhere now. We cannot avoid it. All is not lost, though. Let’s throw our oars in and make our own content. Let’s put those hours to good use and get creative. Imagine how much you have already learned about character and plot without really thinking about it. Yup. It’s time to tell the stories that you want to see up there on the screen.

Did you know that the average person ranks fear of public speaking higher than the fear of death?! This fear could be hurting your personal and professional life. So many people share this fear and the only way to get over it is to face it. The real learning and growth occurs when we are outside our comfort zone. It can be tackled in a fun, frivolous and social way. Join the beginner’s acting class and get up there with everyone else, have lots of fun and meet like-minded people. If you want to know more about what happens in a typical acting class 
1. You will be exposed to lots of different styles and will write a lot but the emphasis will be on having a fun, relaxed time.
Improvers Acting – Level 2 Tuesdays, 7.30pm-9.30pm,
Intermediate Acting – Level 3 – Thursdays, 7.30pm-10pm.

It runs at lunch time and evenings until Decemebr 17. More exciting new writing from Theatre Upstairs, located over Lanigan’s Pub on Eden Quay.
