Writing Tip for the day!
“If you can tell stories, create characters, devise incidents, and have sincerity and passion, it doesn’t matter a damn how you write”. – Somerset Maugham
We like this quote from novelist Somerset Maugham. It’s true. It’s all about story and character. For those starting out, we often say, if you can talk, then you can write. It’s a simple as that and the quote underneath is particularly poignant when it comes to writing.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL
Confidence to write
I am a firm believer in the power of positive thinking. And I don’t mean lying back on the couch, just poring over Pinterest, Instagram or Facebook and liking and sharing quotes about positive living. You’ve got to clarify what you want to do. Then you’ve got to take small steps to achieve your goals. Now, when it comes to creative writing, I really believe that if you can talk, you can write. To become a writer, you must simply write. And you simply must read. Enjoy the journey. It can be frustrating but oh so enriching and rewarding too.

Do the meditation rock with Bob Dylan on bass!
Allen Ginsberg teaches meditation through song! “The trickster and teacher, Ginsberg often used humor to disarm his audience, then went in for the kill, so to speak. We may find no more pointed an example of this comedic pedagogy than his 1981 song, “Do the Meditation Rock,” recorded in 1982 as a shambling folk-rock jam above with guitarist Steven Taylor, and members of Bob Dylan’s touring band—including Dylan himself making a rare appearance on bass.” spotted on Openculture (a fantastic online treasure trove). Listen to this hilarious lesson in how to meditate by famous beat poet, Allen Ginsberg!

If you want to demystify this mindfulness thing, join us in Rathmines on Sunday, November 6th for an introductory session in learning how to meditate.
