Yes indeed, more beginner maggots made happy! So, after spending six fun weeks learning the rudiments of improvisation and how to feel comfortable letting go of their inhibitions in a beginner’s acting class – what are the latest current crop of maggots going to do with themselves now that it’s all over? Thursdays will never be the same! The great thing is that they have all connected now and seem to be a really tight bunch. The feedback was awesome when we all went for drinks after their last class on Thursday. They were all in high spirits. Most of them definitely want to continue their creative journey. There is always Level 2, the follow on class where maggots get to go on stage! A good few of them will come along to the showcase this week and see if is something they want to try. It is so encouraging to hear the positive feedback from participants. One said she just loved the two hours she got every week where she did not have to think about anything else. Just a complete switch off from responsibilities and work where she could just feel safe being silly, play like a child – unselfconsciously. Basically, act the maggot, says I? Yup. How great it is to hear this. Others are a little more serious about the acting game and really want to give it a go. Our suggestion is to keep coming, join Level 2, go on stage, see how it feels, get used to it, get confident, grow, learn. Develop an arsenal of well-honed monologues that have been specifically chosen for you – that you can use for auditioning, There is nothing like showing up to auditions will well-worked, polished pieces. This will put you in a very favourable light with casting directors. If you aren’t right for the current role you are going up for, the chances are, if you make a good impression in the audition room, they’ll remember you and call you in for other stuff. Keep at it maggots whatever the motivations for joining us – being for pure fun or for loftier notions – we welcome you all.
