Short Film Script entitled “Eighty-Six”. This Screenplay was nominated as “Best original Screenplay” at the Waterford Film Festival 2013.
Briefly this film is about a Survivor of Institutional Child Abuse named Mary who receives a letter from her long lost sister whom she was forcefully separated from at the age of 7. The sister wants to meet Mary at a specified date. The film then follows Mary on her short journey, through the streets of Waterford City, to meet with her sister. Through everyday normal encounters we see the lasting legacy Institutional Child Abuse has had on Mary and her Mental State. Flashbacks of her abuse, the betrayal of our state to care for her and her difficulty in living a “normal” life are all examined on this short journey. As Her sister was never taken into Institutional care, will we see the same lasting effects on her and if not how does this affect her as opposed to Mary?
Our reason for writing to you directly is that we have received support from the Film Lab, through Waterford City Council Arts Department who have committed to ensuring this Short Film gains completion.
The next step in this process, is the development of our cast and we were hoping through your organisation that you can assist us in this aspect and allow us to offer your talented actors / actresses the opportunity to audition to be a part of this project.
