Mindfulness for Adults

ScatteredFollowing the success of previous workshops, Act The Maggot is hosting another Mind Yourself afternoon at Parker Hill, Rathmines on Sunday, November 6th, 2016 from 1.30 to 3pm – to ground ourselves in time for the Christmas season! The workshop comprises an array of mindfulness exercises purpose-designed for the beginner (it is also a great way to reconnect with a fallen practise). It is guaranteed to leave you rejuvenated and refreshed when you walk out the door. The cost of the workshop is €25 per person. You can read testimonials about previous Mind Yourself workshops, click here. Please email us at actthemaggot@gmail.com or call 087 374 4926 for more information and to book your spot.

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?
There is no short answer for this. It is simply paying attention, in the present moment and being aware of the now. That’s Amy’s short answer. For me, it is all about the breath. The sanctuary of the breath. When we pay attention to the rising and falling of our breaths, it takes us out of our minds (where we spend way too much time!) and harnesses us constantly back to the present moment. Yes, mindful meditation can be your own daily holiday from thinking, thinking, thinking. It’s worth exploring, that is for sure.

Jon Kabat-Zinn says “Mindfulness is paying attention, on purpose, in a particular, in the present moment, non-judgementally.”

Interesting article in The Irish Times questioning whether Mindfulness courses should be prescribed by doctors?
